Altarik Hopkins was additionally sentenced on Monday, Dec. 4 for resisting arrest by flight and obstructing the administration of law, according to the Atlantic City Prosecutor's Office.

He must serve 42 months of the sentence before he is eligible for parole, the prosecutor said.

On May 5, 2021, Atlantic City police tried to stop a vehicle which had been reported stolen out of Vineland. Hopkins and his juvenile co-defendants fled the stolen vehicle on foot. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of cellphones and two loaded handguns. Police searched the cellphones and uncovered timestamped videos of Hopkins and the juveniles passing around the handguns while driving through rival gang territory, the prosecutor said.

During his guilty plea, Hopkins admitted he possessed a loaded handgun with the purpose of intimidating rival gang members.
